Welcome to the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society!

Thank you for visiting the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society (G.O.G.S.) website as part of your genealogy adventure! We are based in Omaha, Nebraska, and dedicated to assisting genealogists of all levels in achieving their goals, no matter how much or how little is known about one's ancestors. We invite you to become a member, which has its own privileges in resources and other research helps.Our purpose is to:
 
Unite persons interested in the pursuit and study of genealogy and family history,
Encourage the preservation of public and private records,
Encourage the use of sound genealogical practices, and
Promote programs of education for further growth and development in these fields.
 
Society membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy. Annual membership dues (currently $20 for a single membership or $25 for a family membership) are payable in May or June for the following year and become delinquent as of July 1. The fiscal year is from 1 July to 30 June of the following year. Click here to join today!
 
The Society publishes a bi-monthly newsletter – Westward into Nebraska. Members have the option of receiving an email newsletter or a printed newsletter.  Please include an additional fee of $8 to cover printing and postal costs for the printed newsletter.
 
We also have Special Interest Groups (SIG) that meet to discuss various aspects of research for specific ancestors, Currently, we have four - All Things German, DNA, Irish and Scandinavian. Contact the respective leaders for additional information on meeting times and places. (NOTE: The SIGs are open only to G.O.G.S. members).
